Kovan Food

   Kovan Food and Commodities Company Limited has been established at the beginning of 1930s. In 1960s, the company has made wholesales to various grocery stores at Anatolian part of İstanbul. As its business volume expanded, Kovan Food has believed that the expansion can be ensured with a distribution company and has worked on this line to respond to the incoming demands. 

                 They established warehouse buildings of 15,000 sq.m. in an area of 60,000 sq.m.

            in  Gebze Şekerpınar. Kovan Food has become the first company making stock with computerized distribution and encoding and has shown its ability to apply and transfer the developing technology quickly by passing to the inter company on-line system. With its information and know-how experience of years, Kovan Food has

become able to transport 6000 various products to 5000 sates sites as a result of the large facilities provided by advanced data processing technology.  

There is a flexible working hour application at Kovan Food. In other words, you can find service for 24 hours at Kovan Food. This takes the customers from “normal customer” classification and promotes to “satisfied customer” standard. Kovan Food has been giving service for 7 days and 24 hours with its producer, order receiving, warehouse and distribution units and transport work.  

 The activity area of Kovan Food is being evaluated within three main groups:

· Sales and deliveries to the markets

· Wholesales and deliveries

· Exportation

 Sales and deliveries to the markets:

They make cash in advance sales and daily deliveries to 5000 sales sites in and around İstanbul.

 Wholesales and deliveries:

Wholesales and deliveries are made directly to sales site from the central warehouse or producer. Marmara, West Black Sea and West Anatolia regions are within the distribution area. There is a project to transform the sales sites to a network system covering all Turkey with new studies. Studies on this project is continued with high speed and soon Kovan Food will be able to reach everywhere in the country.

Exportation:

The company is making exportation to Seylan tea, Turkish Republics , Russia , East Europe and African countries.

A big establishment has been constructed with a closed area of 15,000 sq.m. on an area of 60,000 sq.m. at Gebze Şekerpınar in order to give clear and continuous responses to needs of expanding portfolio and increasing business volume and developing product range of Kovan Food. The establishments have been equipped with the latest technology with a volume of heat adjusted complete shelf system of 20,000 cb.m and have a capacity for loading-discharging of 20 vehicles.

As in Kova Food, Şekerpınar has also a staff working for 24 hours, shelf system and work machines at world standards, and they make loadings computer system.

Major part of the transportation is being done with vehicles of Kovan Food, there are 60 staff and 75 vehicles for this work. For big shipments out of İstanbul, two big transport companies are being used.
